I’ve been on tumblr for a little more than six months now, and boy, do I love it or what? And I don’t really have to explain why. I’ve only ever had a couple of issues with tumblr (queue posts on a weekly basis, the useless lookup page, and no invites), and on these occasions I’ve not hesitated in dashing off emails to tumblr support. They’re the best really, the only support team I’ve ever contacted, although none of my problems has been solved yet. Anyway, to celebrate my love for tumblr I’m doing a post dedicated to my favourite tumbleblogs.  Lets start with what tumblr calls my “crushes”: 1) My biggest tumblr crush is without doubt or surprises, Photojojo. Photojojo finds the best photo shiz anywhere, and I love them so much for it! Their tumblr features some 3 or 4 awesome photographers everyday. Currently, they have Show & Tell week going on and you have to catch it, whether on tumblr or on twitter or on fb. I’ve also subscired to their newsletter and their timecapsule and one of my ambitions in life is to buy something from their awesome store just to get one of them dinosaurs. 2) The next blog is called Anthropogenics, and most of the text is in Chinese or something. They feature a different photographer everyday, I think, but in any case, all their pictures share the common quality of being jaw-dropping. They post less often than Photojojo, and have a cleaner zen-like approach. Must follow.  3) The third blog to get my love is Jamie Beck’s wonderful photography blog. Jamie is one half of the team that came up with cinematographs, which got featured even in (rubbish) newspapers like TOI. Her stream can be a bit of an overload sometimes, but there are gems to find in there.  4) Jo in India is a blog I came across thanks to tumblr’s “track tags” tool. I’ve been tracking “Delhi” for quite some time know, curious to see how others view Delhi (as background research for Delhi vs Bangalore). Some seriously great blogs have turned up this way, and Jo’s is one of them. Jo not only takes the quaintest photos of Delhi, she also writes these long, humourous sketches about her life in the City that I love to read.  5) Pictory blog. Another great blog that features different people/photos everyday, and has themes you can submit to. What I love about them is that they have great stories to go with each photo! You should have a look at Pictory Mag while you’re at it, btw.  6) I’m so sad that tumblr thinks Priya gets only 4% of my love. I’ve known her from her frog dissection days; its so inspiring to see how far she has come. Priya is the amazing person behind Start Mag (Issue 7 is out, btw!!) and ahem, the Bangalore half of Delhi vs Bangalore. You HAVE to follow her blog.  7) Jorge Quinteros writes the most useful and inspiring tips on photography. He posts almost every day and forms an important part of my daily inspiration.  8) Ryan Selvy is a very funny 18 year old. His Monday, Wednesday & Friday comics are something I look forward to.  9) Rashmi Swamy recently made herself (oh ok Prateek Rungta designed it for her :P) a gorgeous photoblog, which has this exciting color transition thing from day to night. Her pictures are so lovely and subtle. Other blogs that I love, but didn’t get featured on my Tumblr Crush Grid: 1) Tumblr Staff Features one super-interesting person per week.  2) Oh my leftovers Max Wanger’s blog of his photos that never got published elsewhere. Checkout his portfolio for an instant dose of minimalism.  3) Pulp Poetry Wonderful photographs from Mumbai.  4) Physics Physics. The funniest Physics jokes around.   5) Type Play 6) Amit Gupta, the guy behind Photojojo.  7) Terra Kate 8) Dear Photograph Gosh I so want to submit something to this blog! 9) Vasudha Wadhera’s Delhi 100.  10) And finally, Sarcasan, a complete LOL blog.  I have avoided, as far as possible, repeating the people already on the my Links page. That page needs an update, but do check out all the awesome people on it, too!  Special appearance: Discovered today: Suri’s Burn Book. Too much fun.  Who are your tumblr crushes? January 26th, 2011 I can’t believe how much nani’s health has deteriorated since maybe March this year. Last Wednesday (what a day!) she took a fall and ever since then, it seems that she has just lost confidence in her ability to walk. We can’t make out if its just a psychological block or her back is more hurt than she says, or what is purely my own yet-unvoiced fear, that her eyesight has been affected. Its sad to see her so weak and emaciated…and helpless.

A Walk in Nehru Park

Warmth

The days are turning warmer and brighter, much to my delight. Yesterday, the weather was deliciously golden and I really regretted not having a cool neighbour or someone who would spontaneously jump out of their house and go on a walk with me. Nevertheless, I dragged my mom along with me to Nehru Park for a photowalk.

Nehru Park is enchanting at this time of the year. There are no butterflies yet, but the place is full of flowers, bees, sunshine and happy children. I naturally went snap-crazy and clicked around 191 photos. A few of which I’m posting here.
